Friday 5th October was our Autumn Show & Sale in
Dungannon. Judge for the day was Young Stockperson of
the Year Conor Loane from Cookstown. There was a small
entry of bulls selling to a top of 2,150gns. This was for the
Reserve Male Champion from David Carson, Fermanagh.
The Supreme Champion of the day was Cleenagh Ivy
owned by Wesley Abraham. This heifer has chalked
up numerous prizes throughout the year including the
2018 Danske Bank Female of the Year. Females peaked
at 2,200gns for Andrew and Zara Clarke’s second prize
winner Breaghey Vida. One of the main attractions was
the major reduction sale for Adrian and Clive Richardson’s
noted Cleenagh herd. Topping the trade was 10 month
old heifer Cleenagh Jessica making 4,200 gns. Her dam
went on to make 3,400gns. Next best was Cleenagh Gabby
who made 3,000 gns. Three cow and calf outfits averaged
2,500gns each.
Once again the Northern Ireland breeders headed
for the October Stirling Bull Sales. Leading the way was
the Nelson family from Rosslea, County Fermanagh
claiming the Junior and Supreme Championship titles
with Drumacritten Ian making 11,000gns. Next best at
8,500gns was Ranfurly Impeccable from David and Jonny
Hazelton, Dungannon. This bull took the Reserve Senior
Championship. Also making 8,500gns and taking the
Reserve Intermediate Championship was Hiltonstown
Irish bred by Richard Rodgers, Portglenone. The Robson
family from Doagh realised 6,000gns for Kilbride Farm
Iceman. They also took 5,200gns for Kilbride Farm Ian.
Shane and Paul McDonald from Tempo averaged £3,675
for 2 bulls. Topping their entry at 4,500gns was Coolcran
Instagram. Robin Boyd from Portglenone averaged £3,937
for 2 bulls. His best was 4,500gns for Slievenagh Ike. Also
selling at 4,500gns was the fifth placed Omorga Irving from
John Moore, Beragh. The third placed Scribby Farms Ivor
came under the hammer at 4,200gns for Keith and Andrea
Nelson, Rosslea. Joe Wilson, Rathfriland, realised 3,500gns
for Sterling Innes.
Finally I would like to take this opportunity to wish all
the Northern Ireland Simmental club members continued
success next year.
