Chairman’s Report by Mark Sallis

Our annual AGM and quiz night was once again held

at Stratford cattle market albeit a little later in the

year than usual due to the weather in February,

prompting a postponement until March. This delay did

reduce the numbers slightly as many were now calving

and/or lambing, however an enjoyable night was had by all

that attended.

The AGM saw the following appointments for 2018

Chairman – Mark Sallis

Vice-Chairman – David Savins

Treasurer – John Fellows

Secretary – Amy Cox

It was very pleasing to see club members taking three

of the top four prices at the Worcester sale in May.

Congratulations to C.H Evans & Son on selling Wroxall

Happy Chappy, for the day’s top price of 5000 guineas, to

fellow club members C.M Mercer, for use in the Bowley

herd. Other notable prices were achieved by John Rixon

(Lopemede) and James Shouler (Alchester). The sale

at Worcester in May continues to go from strength to

strength and I anticipate the additional Autumn sale at

Worcester in 2019 will be equally as successful.

Unfortunately, the show season was very quiet for

club members this year. We have seen the dispersal of a

number of great herds who were very active on the show

circuit over the last couple of years, and other members

have elected to stay at home this year for a variety of

reasons. Hopefully next year will see us out in force.

Our annual Herd Competition was admirably judged

in September by Noah Hoskins, supported by our very

own Rob Hewlett, and we thank them both for generously

donating their time.
