REGIONAL CLUB REPORTS

North East Club

Report by Jayne Pick - Secretary

The Club has had a reasonably quiet 2018. It was

a special year given the fact the National Show

was held at the Great Yorkshire Show, Harrogate,

a relative home match for a lot of NE Members! Well

done to Vikki, Jimmy, Harry and Hannah Wood who took

the Championship with their heifer ‘Popes Rhona’. All

exhibitors should be extremely proud of the quality of

cattle they brought out at the show, and whether you

were near the top or further down the line you should be

congratulated.

The year started with our AGM at Scarthingwell. A good

number of members came for Sunday lunch and various

ideas were put forward for visits. Unfortunately, with this

year’s weather being so challenging no one could commit

to a possible 2-day visit.

Newark Show & Sale in March brought success for

Andrew & Yvonne Leedham and John, Val and Craig

Hollingsworth. ‘Grangewood Heston 16’ a ‘Grangewood

Damascus 12’ son was awarded Reserve Champion for

Andrew & Yvonne before selling for 3300gns. ‘Midhope

Glamorous’ achieved Reserve Female Champion for John,

Val and Craig before being sold to CR Fovargue Bros,

Leicester for 2600gns.

The Leading Ladies Show & Sale at Carlisle in April saw

the top two spots being taken by Club members. John,

Val and Craig Hollingsworth took the Championship with

‘Midhope Holy Light’ selling for 5000gns to Mr Grant

(Dellfield). Andrew & Ruth Steele were awarded the

Reserve Champion with ‘Weeton Crocus’s Hyacinth’, the

‘Ashland Brandy‘ daughter later being sold for 2600gns.

Well done to Katie Steele who prepared and showed

Hyacinth at the sale.
