Simmental Club

The year started in February with our Annual Quiz -
always well supported and enjoyed by all. This year it
was won by the Ex-President’s men.
Huge thanks go to our quiz masters Chris and Kath
Martindale for pulling it out of the bag every year.

March saw us welcoming Alan Hughes from Farming
Solutions Ltd, who gave us a very informative talk on how
to protect our farms, and indeed cattle, from badgers. It
really was enlightening and again well supported.
The summer shows have been well attended as always
with club members enjoying success at all levels. Mentions
must go to David and Susan Donnelly and Richard and
Louise Storer Smith on a successful show season with
plenty of championships and reserve championships
between them. Also, to Jimmy and Vikki Wood and family
winning the National Show with Popes Rhona. We continue
to be strongly represented at shows which is really
encouraging, as it is a great shop window for our breed.
Our herd competition was judged this year by John
Rixon, ably assisted by his partner Shona. The extended
summer hopefully made this an enjoyable experience for
them and we thank them both for giving up their time
especially during a busy period. Ours is quite a large area
