REGIONAL CLUB REPORTS
Cornwall Simmental Club
Report by Bridget Olds - Secretary
We began 2018 with our annual dinner in January
at The Plume of Feathers, Mitchell where
members were joined by family and friends to
enjoy a convivial meal. The amusing game of Irish Bingo
was won by Robert Bowden with the club secretary just
losing out.
February saw Sowenna acquiring Strathisla Humble’s
Harriet from the one-off draft sale of Islavale Donald’s
heifers at Stirling Bull Sales, marking the celebration of
forty years of the Ivory family breeding Simmentals. Harriet
has subsequently produced a heifer calf by Woodhall
Ferrari in August 2018.
In May, Cornwall Club members supported the
Worcester Society sale offering a selection of bulls
and females. Entries included cattle from Sowenna,
Killiworgie, Chegwidden (draft of Chegwidden Alfie sired
females) and Bosahan (Reserve Male Champion and Top
price heifer).

Our annual challenge against the South Devon club
usually takes place in March, however unfortunately this
did not work out this year. A repeat is planned for 2019.
April featured the second Cornwall Club Sale at Exeter
market where, in common with other spring sales,
entries forward were disappointing. However, warm
congratulations to Gethin and Enfys Lloyd who made the
long journey from Wales and successfully sold Crugmelyn
Elvis to Malcom Coumbe’s Housey herd at Liskeard.
Two weeks later Killiworgie and Treverbyn herds took
the honours at Devon County Show with Killiworgie Grace’s
Camelia taking the Female Championship and Overall with
Ant Hart heading the males with Skylark Geronimo.
