British Simmental Review 2018

During the first week of June, attention is centred
on our County Show at Wadebridge. This year John
Moore (Omorga, Northern Ireland) took on the task
of judging the eight classes, respective specials and
championships. Local breeders with entries forward
included Sowenna, Kurlycoat, Chegwidden, Killiworgie,
Pennytinney,Treverbyn and Bosahan. Sowenna emerged
as Female and Overall Champion with their first calf heifer
Sowenna Galaxy - (Sowenna Tamar x Celtic Betty), while
her August 17 daughter Sowenna Iola by Castlegale Eric
lifted the Junior Championship. The Skerrington Armada
sired Bosahan Harmony Whitney headed the two-yearold
heifer line up and stood Reserve Female Champion.
Killiworgie took the Male Championship with their new
stock bull, the Sterling Flint sired Lynfield Hamish, and Viv
Hall stood reserve with her home-bred April 17 youngster
Chegwidden Impecibull by Chegwidden Fergal Gallant.
Other class winners were Sowenna Ivor, Killiworgie Grace’s
Camelia and Sowenna Henrietta’s Ivy. Megan Wellington
(Pennytinney) with her new stock bull Sowenna Illuminate
was second in the Beef Young Handlers Senior class and
went on to be Reserve Champion in the beef section.
