SIMMENTAL REVIEW 2018

HEATHER DUFF

I

live at Pitmudie Farm, Brechin. We run 120 commercial cows and 60

pedigree cows.

The pedigree herd was founded in 2011 with a Drumsleed cow that

was in the commercial herd, her daughter Beaujolais started up the

Pitmudie Prefix and off we went from there.

I took a late interest in the farm and livestock. My decision to join the

Young Farmers and compete in the overwintering competitions and

helping at home more changed my perspective on farming.

I then ventured up to SRUC Aberdeen to study Agriculture and after a

brilliant five years I graduated with a BSc Honours degree.

A year on I have started a part time job with Agri-Lloyd as an

independent sales agent for Angus and spend the rest of my time with

pedigrees.
