Trip 2018

These trips are shorter than they used to be and

tend to be concentrated over a weekend. However,

we still managed to fit in two herd visits, the stock

judging competition, laser tag, a social evening and a

presentation dinner.

We began with a herd visit to Kilbride Farm, where we

saw some fantastic stock. The field of yearling heifers

was a spectacle. On numerous occasions throughout the

trip, the young members are given the opportunity to

ask questions, and discuss amongst themselves aspects

of breeding and rearing stock. At the end of the visit,

the Robson family’s main piece of advice for breeders

old and new was that to move forward with a herd,

you must cull hard. Remove the females that aren’t

producing good stock, and concentrate your efforts on

those that are.
