Midhope Holy Light – Leading Ladies Champion

SIMMENTAL REVIEW 2018

REGIONAL CLUB REPORTS

Lincoln show in June brought success for the

Hollingsworth & Steele families. John, Val and Craig

collected two seconds with their heifers ‘Midhope Heavenly

Light’ and ‘Midhope I-Light’. Ian & Margaret were awarded a

4th place with their heifer ‘Blakewell Wallflowers Hyacinth’.

The heifers were out again at the Great Yorkshire show

where competition was fierce. They gained a second,

fourth and third respectively. A special mention to

Emma Steele who showed her grandparents’ heifer so

professionally.

The Club’s biennial Herd Competition was judged on

the weekend of the 22nd and 23rd September. Mr John

Barlow, Leyland, Lancashire was kind enough to judge the

9 herds that had entered. Results were announced at our

Annual Dinner which was held at a new venue, The Bridge,

Walshford near Wetherby on Saturday 17th November.

The Club is indebted to John for giving up his weekend to

view the herds, also thank you to Ellis for accompanying

him and helping to navigate around some very unfamiliar

countryside! The results are printed below, many

congratulations to all who entered.

2018 has brought with it many challenges; the erratic

weather resulting in increased feed costs due to shortage

of fodder and unfortunately still the uncertainties

circulating around Brexit. We all now look forward to the

New Year with the optimism that is necessary for a life

involved in any aspect of the farming industry.
