The creature floated over, and I walked with it. Existence seemed <strong>to</strong> ripple in<br />

its wake, and the eddies passed through me as I followed.<br />

it declared coldly, spreading a hand <strong>of</strong> long talons.<br />

"Why did you <strong>do</strong> it?" I murmured. It was trying <strong>to</strong> break me, sap my will.<br />

This was the last battle it had prepared for, and this was why it had collected<br />

their broken corpses.<br />
