in which new media has opened up doors for subcultures to assemble, disassemble and<br />

reassemble phenomenon previously exclusive to hierarchical storytelling institutions.<br />

This article focused on glamour, a construct utilised in the mainstream to sell consumerist<br />

principles to a heteronormative audience. This construct, which relies on mystique and<br />

mystery in order to create desireS&+3*&)%%"&8%09*6$4%8&)9&h(%%>&"%G&0%8$3&D7>0*M&&`&G7(#8&<br />

argue that such subversion <strong>of</strong> a mainstream storytelling alters the semiotic meaning<br />

in the minds <strong>of</strong> those who experience glamour in this form. Yet that is not to say that<br />

6+$*&5>%36%*&3&"%G&8%4"$6$7"&7>&%I7#I%*&7(>&*%0$76$5&3**75$36$7"&G$6+&,#307(>&]&67&87&*7&<br />

would be to ignore the role that new media takes in providing multiple viewpoints for a<br />

population <strong>of</strong> bricoleurs. Rather, TNB&5>%36%*&3&*'%5$453##9&h(%%>&'>%*%"636$7"&7D&,#307(>&<br />

6+36S&G+$#%&*()I%>*$I%S&5>%36%*&3&*'%5$45&type <strong>of</strong> glamour that differs from, yet borrows<br />

storytelling that remix established assumptions, thus enriching the meaning we hold<br />

towards traditional concepts. In the kaleidoscopic medium <strong>of</strong> new media we are thus able<br />

to generate meaning on multiple levels.<br />
