on these indictments?<br />

MR. ETO: Yes, I did.<br />

MR. RYAN: Wh<strong>at</strong> did he say?<br />

MR. ETO: Well, he wasn't too concerned about<br />

the St<strong>at</strong>e indictment, but he acted concerned about the<br />

Federal indictment.<br />

MR. RYAN: Did <strong>you</strong> indic<strong>at</strong>e to him th<strong>at</strong>, if<br />

necessary, <strong>you</strong> could j<strong>us</strong>t do <strong>you</strong>r time?<br />

MR. ETO: Yes.<br />

MR. RYAN: Did <strong>you</strong> consult a lawyer as well<br />

as Mr. Solano to seek advice on these charges against<br />

<strong>you</strong>?<br />

MR. ETO: Yem, I did.<br />

MR. RYAN: Wh<strong>at</strong> did <strong>you</strong>r lawyer tell <strong>you</strong>?<br />

MR. ETO: I asked him about the Federal<br />

charge and I asked him, "Whut chance do I havD on<br />

the Federal charges?"<br />

He told me th<strong>at</strong> -- "Slim to none."<br />

So I asked him if he would sae if he could<br />

get me a plea bargaining where I would plead guilty<br />

f<strong>or</strong> a reduced sentence.<br />

MR. RYAN: Did <strong>you</strong> in fact enter plea nego­<br />

ti<strong>at</strong>ions and ultim<strong>at</strong>ely plead to a stipul<strong>at</strong>ed bench,<br />
