Presentation of the Company:
This group is a part of Electronics Laboratory which was founded in 1968,
as one of the four basic Labs in the Department of Physics. The scientific
and technical staff in Electronics Laboratory is 10 persons, while almost
thirty postgraduate students panel the research and teaching activities of
the staff.
IRIDA group focuses its research activities in the following Earth-
Observation areas:
Detection of signals in noise involves clutter and signal statistical
characterization. Parameter estimation is a key issue in this case.
Emphasis has been paid to Constant False Alarm Rate (CFAR) Detectors
and Clutter Maps. Furthermore, signals from different sensors can be
fused (Decision Fusion) for high reliability decisions.
Statistical processing of SAR images since SAR images possess
interesting properties for detecting various characteristics on Land or
Sea, and their information depends on various factors such as the
signal’s polarization. SAR statistics have been studied extensively.
Currently, linear feature detection and region classification are carried
out.
Pattern recognition and fusion in multispectral, hyperspectral and
SAR data. Information fusion in multispectral, hyperspectral and SAR
data is essential for improving image quality for monitoring, visual
inspection as well as for detection and classification.
Key Products and Services
Methods and algorithms for land cover/use classification.
Fusion and visualization of multispectral data.
 Sea clutter maps
