Major references:<br />

<strong>BIC</strong> Lazio holds five<br />

incubators in the region and<br />

in 2006 set up ITech, the<br />

incubator for the promotion<br />

and creation of new<br />

enterprises engaged in high<br />

tech activities. It is located in<br />

Tecnopolo Tiburtino of Rome,<br />

in cooperation with the<br />

company of Polo Tecnologico<br />

Industriale Romano. The<br />

incubator provides integrated<br />

and detailed services of preincubation<br />

and incubation,<br />

able to turn ideas, research<br />

projects and experiences from<br />

productive system into new<br />

business. The process of<br />

business support is divided in<br />

four phases: scouting of new<br />

business innovative ideas;<br />

selection; pre-incubation<br />

assistance; incubation.<br />

At the moment, the<br />

programme ITech Spazio is<br />

active and founds itself on an<br />

Agreement between <strong>BIC</strong> Lazio<br />

and ESA (<strong>European</strong> Space<br />

Agency), aimed to the<br />

identification of ESA’s skills<br />

and competences which offer<br />

a potential industrial<br />

exploitation for no space<br />

application and to the<br />

definition of the tools for the<br />

transfer of those<br />

competencies.<br />

Presentation of the Company:<br />

<strong>BIC</strong> Lazio, founded in 1990 by the Latium Region with<br />

Regional Law 35/90, is the regional network agency<br />

responsible for encouraging local development through the<br />

promotion of an entrepreneurial culture and support the<br />

creation and development of business initiatives.<br />

Key Products and Services<br />

<strong>BIC</strong> Lazio belongs to the <strong>European</strong> <strong>BIC</strong> <strong>Network</strong> (EBN) and<br />

the <strong>European</strong> Association of Development Agencies<br />

(EURADA). Since 2003 it hosts the Euro Information<br />

Centre IT 389. <strong>BIC</strong> Lazio activities include:<br />

- promotion of entrepreneurial culture;<br />

- support to local actors in choosing development<br />

strategies to enhance local resources and in taking part in<br />

<strong>European</strong> Programmes;<br />

- support for enterprise creation;<br />

- assistance to SMEs in pinpointing development<br />

opportunities;<br />

economic exploitation of research findings (spin-offs from<br />

academic and research work) in collaboration with<br />

Universities and Research centres.<br />
