depth of bedrock.
- Gamma Ray Spectrometry
Radiometric are performed by recording the
spatial distribution of the natural gamma ray
emissions of the soil in geo-referenced positions.
Gamma radiation is emitted by the radioactive
isotopes of potassium (K), thorium (Th) and
uranium (U) and varies along the Earth’s surface
with the type of soil and bedrock. Gamma
emission readings are related to the presence of
certain minerals and elements in the soil surface.
- Ground Penetrating Radar
Ground Penetrating Radar can be used to collect
information about the hydro-geologic properties
of the surface layer of the soil. This sensor’s high
spatial resolution information can be used to
determine the depth of the water table, the soil
moisture content and the depth of different soil
layer at geo-referenced positions.
• Terrain Validation
The validation of the remote information collected can be
performed by UAVision. This validation encompasses
comparing the measurements / observations from georeferenced
positions (using a DGPS) with variations
observed on images or maps obtained by remote
sensing. Examples of the kind of information that can be
collected for validation are: descriptions of the vigor of
the ground cover; the presence of pests and diseases;
the amount of nutrients and water in the soil and results
from any other laboratorial analysis performed to the
plants and soil.
• GIS
The information collected is processed using GIS
software. Data are delivered to the client in the final form
of maps and images or in other digital formats with georeferenced
records that can be manipulated by the client
at will. The analytical techniques used in processing the
information can be determined by the client but as a
general rule, UAVision uses the common techniques of
geostatistical analysis and cluster analysis.
• Precision Farming
For Precision Farming, along with the acquisition of
remote sensing information, UAVision also performs the
installation and calibration of yield monitors in combines
and grape harvesters and the integration of the data with
DGPS information to obtain yield maps. UAVision also
complements these services with map interpretation for
variable rate application of inputs and selective
harvesting.
