Presentation of the Company:
The organized participation of the Bulgarian scientists in
space research started in 1969 when the first Scientific
Group of Space Physics at the Presidium of the Bulgarian
Academy of Sciences (BAS) was created. In 1975, based on
it, the Central Laboratory for Space Research was founded,
which in 1987 was transformed into the Space Research
Institute (SRI).
The SRI-BAS carries out fundamental and applied research
in the fields of Space Physics, Remote Sensing of the Earth,
Space Technology, Space Biology and Medicine, Material
Science and Nanotechnology. The scientists from the
Institute contribute to the development of hardware and
software products for scientific instrumentation intended for
rockets, satellites, planetary probes and manned space
flights. The scientific teams participate in data and image
processing and interpretation as well as in modeling of
physical ionosphere-magnetosphere processes.
