� Open Engineering s.a. specialises in Computer-
Aided Engineering (CAE), numerical analysis,
simulation and modelling aimed at multidisciplinary
design, analysis and virtual prototyping. Resulting
from more than a decade of research, the company
delivers state-of-the-art computer modelling
capabilities (tools and services) for design and
analysis to replace expensive or demanding
experimentation, ensure compliance to health,
safety or environmental requirements and deliver
understanding and insight that lead to
improvements in products’ and processes’
performances at affordable costs.
� The maximal use of object-oriented concepts
results in highly modular, open and extensible
software, with a strong focus on custom-developed
software and tools interconnexion to address each
topic in its specific features, while reducing
significantly software development, maintenance
and extension expenditures.
� Open Engineering, acting as RDT contributor, could
develop customised modelling and simulation tools.
For example, but without loss of generality, to
estimate a priori storm damages, for earthquake
fast damage estimates, to include environmental
design considerations, … The simulation tools
would be developed by integrating classical
modelling software tools (such as FEM) within the
OOFELIE C++ open environment platform with
simulation features needed by the end applications.

� OOFELIE Toolkit – Multidisciplinary library of open and evolving
software for modelling and simulation: multi-physics, multifields
and multi-methods computer tools in a single unified
platform.
� Previous research in the following areas: seismic waves
propagation in the ground, environmental risk modelling,
behaviour modelling of hydrographic networks. Extensive
abilities to develop new simulation capabilities on the basis of a
known mathematical model.
� Possibility of integration with GIS and EO data to produce
vulnerability assessment maps, damage estimate (a priori and a
posteriori) for storms, earthquake, fire propagation, etc…
