A cell can be divided into multiple availability domains, called core groups. Each<br />

server inside such a core group is monitored for startup and possible failure. To<br />

check if a component is still alive or if a new component is available, the core<br />

group discovery and failure detection protocol is used.<br />

This protocol is part of the Distribution and Consistency Services (DCS). The<br />

DCS provides the following functions:<br />

► Distribution of information among core groups<br />

► Failure detection of said members/groups<br />

► Forms the infrastructure used by the HA manager<br />
