15.1.4 Runtime inter operability<br />

<strong>WebSphere</strong> <strong>Application</strong> <strong>Server</strong> is interoperable and can communicate with<br />

multiple older versions of <strong>WebSphere</strong> <strong>Application</strong> <strong>Server</strong>. This means that<br />

<strong>WebSphere</strong> <strong>Application</strong> <strong>Server</strong> <strong>V7.0</strong> supports and can inter operate with<br />

applications that use the following features:<br />

► Security<br />

► Transactions<br />

► EJB workload management<br />

This support is offered for <strong>WebSphere</strong> <strong>Application</strong> <strong>Server</strong> V5.1, V6.0, V6.1, and<br />

<strong>V7.0</strong>, allowing incremental migration of nodes in a runtime environment.<br />

15.1.5 Runtime migration tools<br />

<strong>WebSphere</strong> <strong>Application</strong> <strong>Server</strong> <strong>V7.0</strong> provides various runtime migration tools<br />

depending on the platform on which <strong>WebSphere</strong> is installed. These tools allow<br />

you to copy existing configuration information from existing <strong>WebSphere</strong><br />

<strong>Application</strong> <strong>Server</strong> installations to the new version.<br />

The following tool support is available:<br />

► Distributed<br />

– Migration Wizard<br />

– Migration Commands<br />

► System i<br />

Migration Commands<br />

► zOS<br />

System z Migration Management Tool (See 15.7.4, “z/OS Migration<br />
