Outcomes<br />
The understanding of human nature or personality is a challenge that we face not only in our personal but also<br />
in our professional life in an organisation. To understand human personality, in this course students will learn<br />
about the theoretical and methodological foundations of some of the principle theories of personalities<br />
(behavioural, cognitive, psychodynamic, humanistic), and gain insight as to how such theories explain and<br />
predict behaviour.<br />

The student is expected to :<br />
- understand why people choose particular goals for which they strive and what specific motives<br />
direct such behaviour,<br />
- make on the conceptualisation, definition and classification of mental illness with reference to<br />
current research findings.<br />

The student is expected to :<br />
- know the dynamics of human personality and the important theoretical concepts behind personality<br />
theories, to apply them to managerial and organizational practice and to relate them to their own<br />
experiences,<br />
- recognize psychological disorders, conceptualise psychopathology with reference to current<br />
research findings,<br />
- recognize the influence of cultural variables on the nature and behaviour of individuals, their<br />
adaptations to different environments, as well as their relationships with others within and outside<br />
their own culture membership.<br />

The student is expected to :<br />
- raise student’s awareness and sensitivity to the influence of cultural variables on the nature and<br />
behaviour of individuals.<br />

The student is expected to :<br />
- have the competence to recognise psychopathology in an organisational setting and recommend<br />
appropriate actions, while respecting confidentiality,<br />
- recognize personal difficulties, identify behavioural problems at work, listen and understand<br />
manager/employee relationship and each person’s perspective,<br />
- Make strategies to deal effectively with maladaptive/deviant behaviours like violence,<br />
Teasing/Bullying, Alcoholism/Substance abuse, sexual and racial harassment.
