Abstract (Documentary pictures of 22–23 December, 1989 in the town of Székelyudvarhely<br />
– Odorheiu Secuiesc, Romania) My text presents two sets of documentary photos taken in the<br />
fever of the Romanian revolution in 1989 at the town of Székelyudvarhely. Though neither of them<br />
was a professional journalist, both photographers (Ferenc Balázs and Károly Szabó) were strongly<br />
determined to capture the events of the streets, the typical moments of the upheaval, the genuine<br />
moments of joy and anger. Today these photos have an important documentation value, giving a<br />
local narrative of the events of the Romanian Revolution.<br />

Rezumat (Documente fotografi ce ale evenimentelor din 22–23 decembrie 1989, de la<br />
Székelyudvarhely – Odorheiu Secuiesc)<br />
Articolul prezintă două colecţii de fotografi i documentare realizate în timpul evenimentelor<br />
revoulţionare din decembrie 1989 în oraşul Odorheiu-Secuiesc. Deşi nu erau jurnalişti profesionişti,<br />
ambii fotografi (Ferenc Balázs şi Károly Szabó) au imortalizat atât momentele tipice ale<br />
evenimentelor, cât şi emoţiile mulţimii. Fotografi ile lor au astăzi o valoare documentară deosebită,<br />
oferind a narativă locală a evenimentelor din 1989.<br />

Fotóinkat általában többféle céllal készíthetjük: léteznek privát használatra<br />
szánt felvételek, valamint hírközlési fotók. Jelen írásomban olyan<br />
képekkel foglalkozom, amelyek célja egy adott cikk témájának illusztrálása.<br />
A sajtófotó hírértéke akkor a legnagyobb, ha váratlan, korábban ismeretlen<br />
jelenséget, eseményt ábrázol. A sajtófotózás műfajának egyik<br />
alkategóriája a <strong>dok</strong>umentumfotózás. Noha a sajtófotózás és a <strong>dok</strong>umentumfotózás<br />
fogalma hasonló értelemmel bír, az általuk közvetített üzenet<br />
mégis eltérő: a <strong>dok</strong>umentumfotózás célja, hogy hiteles emlékképet, kép-<br />
