"Shipbuilding and Shipping Eecord, July 29 ? 1954:
The passenger motorship "Ostersoen", recently
delivered by Burmeister & Wain, Copenhagen, to
Dampskibsselskabet paa Bornholm af 1866 is intended
for summer services between the ports of Allinge
and Eonne on the island of Bornholm and the Swedish
Baltic ports of Simrishamn and Ystad. The hull of
the vessel was built by A/S. Svendborg Skibsværft
and the fitting out was carried out by Burmeister
& Wain.
Built to the requirements of Bureau Yeritas as
a passenger vessel for international routes with
extended coast sailing, the ship has four decks,
two of which are complete. Designed with a soft
nose Stem and cruiser stem, the vessel has her machinery
amidships.

Special attention has heen given to the transport
of automobiles, the car deck taking up practically
the total length of the ship, with accomodation
for 24 automobiles and 10 motor cycles. tfith
a view to a quick and easy drive-in and drive-off
for vehicles, the ship big ports in her sides with
a turntable on the car deck. With this new ship the
companys weekly ferrying traffic capacity of cars
from Copenhagen to Bornholm or Swgden will be about
700. This figure can, if required, be increased by
300 cars weekly by more daily trips between Bornholm
and sweden.
Altogether the ship will carry 500 passengersj,
of which 133 are saloon bookings, viz., 54 in the
restaurant, 31 in the smoking saloon and 48 in the
veranda saloon,
