Applying today‘s airport charges to electrically powered aircraft, their significantly higher<br />

take-off and maximum landing weights would result in higher landing and navigation charges.<br />

Lower direct maintenance cost (Engine and airframe)<br />

On the one hand, superconducting motors require significantly less scheduled and unscheduled maintenance than conventional<br />

turbofan engines. On the other hand, the Ce-Liner‘s airframe requires more maintenance due to the higher aircraft weight.<br />

Higher crew cost (Short-haul, full-service carrier payment level)<br />

As crews receive payments in regard to weight of operated aircraft (larger/heavier aircraft = more responsibility = higher wages),<br />

the comparably heavy Ce-Liner would have disadvantages in terms of crew cost.<br />

angetriebene Verkehrsflugzeuge auf einem vergleichbaren Kostenniveau betrieben<br />

werden könnten wie ihre konventionell angetriebenen Gegenstücke.<br />

With its overall Direct Operating Cost (DOC) only 0.8 per cent higher than for a<br />

conventionally powered reference aircraft, it becomes apparent that an electrically<br />
