Begriffe der Bildwissenschaft sowie eine Un-
tersuchung der Bild- und Inszenierungsge-
schichte des Musikvideos bot Daniel Hornuff
M.A. an. Die Stipendiaten des DFG -Graduier-
tenkollegs Alexander Schwinghammer und
Jörg Scheller M.A. trugen mit Seminaren zur
Film- und Medientheorie bzw. zur Bedeutung
der Foucaultschen Wissenschaftsepistemolo-
gie für die Kunst- und Architekturinterpretati-
on zum Lehrangebot bei.
Im Teilfachbereich Philosophie und Ästhetik
setzte Prof. Dr. Peter Sloterdijk den gemein-
sam mit dem wissenschaftlichen Assistenten
des Rektors Marc Jongen M.A. abgehaltenen
Seminarzyklus zum Thema »Sphärologie« fort.
»Theorie der Technik« lautete der Untertitel im
Wintersemester, »Theorie der Beziehung« im
Sommersemester. Das Spektrum »prä- und pa-
rasphärologischer« Autoren, deren Texte im Se-
minar gelesen und diskutiert wurden, reichte
von Freud, Heidegger und Sartre bis zu Mar-
shall McLuhan und Bruno Latour, wobei Peter
Sloterdijks Sphären-Trilogie den ständigen Re-
ferenzpunkt bildete. Prof. Dr. Boris Groys wid-
mete sich in seinen Seminaren, bei denen ihm
Susanne Kirsch M.A. assistierte, dem »Begriff
Mode« sowie der »Philosophie der Nachrich-
ten«. Außerdem bot er Lektürekurse zur politi-
schen Philosophie der Antike und Gegenwart
sowie zu phänomenologischen Grundlagen-
texten an. Gastprofessor Dr. Carlos Oliveira
bereicherte das Lehrangebot durch Seminare
zum Deutschen Idealismus und zu Hölderlins
Kunstmetaphysik (WS), sowie zu Hegel und
dem Themenkreis »Dichten – Denken – Füh-
len« (SS). Die wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin
des Fachbereichs Barbara Kuon M.A. bot Se-
minare zu »Kunst und Engagement« sowie »Exi-
stentialismus und Emanzipation« an. Lehrbe-
auftragte im gesamten Berichtszeitraum waren
außerdem Dr. Joseph Cohen (WS: »The questi-
on of Difference«, »James Joyce’s Ulysses«, SS:
»Kant«, »The question of the Other«), Dr. Yana
Milev (»Guerilla Transit«, »Krisengeografien
und Sicherheitsarchitekturen«) und Prof. Dr.
Heiner Mühlmann (WS: »Humanismus und
Posthumanismus«, Rhetorikkurs, SS: »Creative
Destruction«, »Neurotektonik«, gemeinsam mit
Prof. Stephan Trüby). Im Wintersemester lehr-
ten am Fachbereich zudem Dr. Cai Werntgen
(»Foucaults Hermeneutik des Subjekts«) und
Matthias Müller M.A. (»Über das Schicksal der
Seele im 21. Jahrhundert«), im Sommersemester
Prof. Dr. Hinderk M. Emrich und Prof. Edgar
Reitz (»Philosophie des Raumes im Kino«).

VeranStaLtungen
Dr. Silke Walther diskutierte im Rahmen einer
Fachexkursion mit Seminarteilnehmern/innen
und Kuratoren der »Impressionistinnen«-Aus-
stellung in der Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt.
Dr. Martin Schulz besuchte mit seinem Semi-
nar die Ausstellung »Die Magie der Dinge« im
Städel Museum Frankfurt. Jörg Scheller M.A.
bot eine Exkursion zur Ausstellung des Künst-
lers Terence Koh in der Schirn Kunsthalle und
zum Architekturmuseum Frankfurt an.

an analysis of image and production history of the music video. Alexander Schwinghammer
and Jörg Scheller, M.A., who have both received grants from the DFG -Post-Graduate Collegium,
contributed to the course offerings with seminars on film and media theory and on the impor-
tance of Foucault’s science epistemology to the interpretation of art and architecture.
In the section Philosophy and Aesthetics, Prof. Dr. Peter Sloterdijk – in cooperation with Aca-
demic Assistant to the Rector, Marc Jongen, M.A. – continued the series of seminars on the topic
of “Spherology”: the fall semester was dedicated to “Theory of Technology”, the summer semes-
ter to “Theory of the Relationship”. The “pre- and paraspherological” authors whose texts were
treated in the seminar ranged from Freud, Heidegger, and Satre to Marshall McLuhan and Bruno
Latour, with Peter Sloterdijk’s Trilogy of Spheres serving as the constant point of reference. Prof.
Dr. Boris Groys, assisted by Susanne Kirsch, M.A., dedicated his seminars to the “Concept of Fash-
ion” and the “Philosophy of News”. He also offered textual-study classes on the political philos-
ophy of the ancient and present worlds, as well as on fundamental phenomenological texts. Vis-
iting Professor Dr. Carlos Oliveira enriched the schedule of classes with seminars on German
Idealism and on Hölderlin’s metaphysics of art (in the fall semester) as well as on Hegel and the
scope of topics “Writing – Thinking – Feeling” (in the summer semester). Department research
staff member Barbara Kuon, M.A., taught seminars on “Art and Commitment” and “Existential-
ism and Emancipation”. The following teaching appointments were also assigned for the report-
ing period: Dr. Joseph Cohen (in the fall semester: “The Question of Difference”, “James Joyce’s
Ulysses”; in the summer semester: “Kant”, “The Question of the Other”), Dr. Yana Milev (“Guerilla
Transit”, “Crises Geographies and Security Architectures”), and Prof. Dr. Heiner Mühlmann (in
the fall semester: “Humanism and Post-Humanism”, rhetoric class; in the summer semester: “Cre-
ative Destruction”, “Neuro-Tetonics” together with Prof. Trüby). Further classes at the department
in the fall semester were taught by Dr. Cai Werntgen (“Foucault’s Hermeneutics of the Subject”)
and Matthias Müller, M.A., (“On the Fate of Souls in the 21st Century). In the summer semester,
the course offerings were completed by Prof. Dr. Hinderk M. Emrich and Prof. Dr. Edgar Reitz
(“Philosophy of Space in Cinema”).

Dr. Silke Walther took her seminar participants on an excursion to the “Women Impressionists”
exhibition at the Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt [main Frankfurt venue for temporary art exhibi-
tions], which included a question-and-answer session and discussion with the curators of the
exhibition. Dr. Martin Schulz and his students visited the exhibition “The Magic of Things. Still
Life Painting 1500 – 1800” at the Städel Museum in Frankfurt [The museum houses a collection
