Logistics systems and supply chains: intra-organizational logistics systems in industry, trade and logistics companies
and inter-organizational logistics systems in the sales and procurement channel
Management of transportation networks: provision of basic transport and logistics systems solving skills to
logistical problems and issues. At the macro level, the edges and nodes of the considered systems are presented.
Following this introduction, the traffic carried by road, rail, water and air are considered systematically
in terms of their specific characteristics and requirements. Additionally, transshipment concepts as
well as various loading units are presented. In addition to the types of networks nodes in macro logistic systems,
operational concepts and business models as well as strategies of the actors involved are analyzed.
Intermodal transport and intercontinental networks are presented and reinforced against the background of
current and future challenges. Guest lectures by leading business representatives involved in international
transport chains procure the practical relevance of the topic. The students take part in-depth case studies
Management and logistics in practice: the business representatives, teachers of the lecture, give students insights
into the practical problems of logistics. The event is accompanied by a case study in which students
develop solutions to current issues in practice
Model Company: The aim of the model company is to simulate realistic situations can be made where the effect
of decisions and interactions of actors in supply chains becomes visible and tangible. This will allow
students to put themselves in the various roles of actors involved in the supply chain, from OEM to the supplier
to the logistics service providers, and interact in the system

Die Studenten sind nach den Veranstaltungen in der Lage,
• interkontinentale Transportketten als Netzwerke mit einer hohen Arbeitsteiligkeit zu sehen und die Geschäftsmodelle
der beteiligten Akteure zu verstehen.
• Verständnis über die Transportnetzwerke (Knoten und Kanten) zu entwickeln.
• Aufbau und Betrieb von interkontinentalen Transportketten zu analysieren.
• Verständnis über die Ausschreibung von Logistikdienstleistungen (auf den Kanten) zu entwickeln.
• im Team Lösungen zu entwickeln, zu präsentieren und vor Unternehmensvertretern verteidigen zu können.
• Fähigkeiten und Kenntnisse eines Logistikmanagers mit der Spezialisierung auf multimodale Transportnetzwerke
zu erlangen.

After the courses the students are able to
• understand intercontinental transport chains as networks with a high degree of labor and to analyze the
business models of the stakeholders.
• understand the transport networks (nodes and edges).
• design and to operate the inter-continental transport chains.
• manage the tender of logistics services.
• solve problems in a team and to present and defend them in front of company representatives.
• develop skills and knowledge of logistics manager with a specialization on multi-modal transport networks.
