SOLAR AND HEAT PUMP SYSTEMS - IEA SHC
Task 44 & HPP Annex 38 - Status and generic
systems
Abstract
Seite 41
We presented at the 16th Heat Pump symposium in 2010 the launch of the Solar Heating and
Cooling SHC Task 44 called “Solar and heat pump systems “ joint activity with the Heat
Pump Programme HPP under the name “Annex 38”, of the International Energy Agency IEA,
together with some thoughts on the performances that a combination of solar and heat pump
could achieve in the case of a one family house.
We discuss in this paper the basics of some system configurations of solar and heat pump and
the current status of the Task/Annex abbreviated T44A38.
The scope of this new Task, which has begun in 2010, is on the following items:
Small-scale residential heating and hot water systems that use heat pumps and any type of
solar thermal collectors as the main components.
Systems offered as one product from a system supplier/manufacturer.
Electrically driven heat pumps, but thermally driven heat pumps are not be excluded but
seldom.
Market available solutions and advanced solutions (produced during the course of the
Task).
Several combinations are possible as “generic”. We will review 8 of them.
The task is organized in 4 Subtasks that have already worked on several aspects of the issue
of combining solar and heat pumps, such as defining the performances, reporting the field
testing, organizing the laboratory testing and comparison, reviewing the available component
models and organizing workshops with local actors in the countries where meetings were
held.
