3.1.3. Safety rules
As safety is the most important and sometimes the most costly part of art events and festivals
organised in public spaces, questionnaires intended to reveal whether street art companies and
organisations obtain any financial or practical support for their security assurance. On other
word: who is assuring and who is financing the maintenance of public security during the
events? (see Table 2.)
Answers have drawn quite a clear picture here as well: in half of the cases (11 of 22) the local
police prefecture is responsible for order and security. As a public body, security assurance is
one of the tasks of local police therefore it is in general a free service for street art events once
