Fig.9 is a horizontal cross-sectional view of the embodiment of Fig.1 taken along line 9 — 9 of Fig.8. In this view,<br />

it can be seen that the upstream annular chamber 12 is divided in<strong>to</strong> a set of smaller chambers 12a through 12f by<br />

the <strong>to</strong>roidal longitudinal baffles 14a. The interior ends of the longitudinal baffles define a central vortex chamber<br />

12g (illustrated by a dashed circle) in which the upstream vortex is formed, and from which the upstream vortex<br />

enters the turbine 22. The central vortex chamber 12g has a diameter approximately equal <strong>to</strong> the diameter of the<br />

turbine.<br />
