i8g. BuLBOPHYLLUM (cirrhopetalum) Skeatianum, n.<br />

Pseiidobulbs several toge<strong>the</strong>r in a small clump, obpyriform,<br />

rugose transversely, i inch long, purple. Leaf linear,<br />

lanceolate, obtuse, narrowed to <strong>the</strong> base, coriaceous, i to 2<br />

inches long, i to f inch wide. Peduncle 5 inches long or less,<br />

slender, purple. Bracts linear, acuminate, very small.<br />

Flowers 9 to 12 in a half whorl ; pedicels i inch long. Upper<br />

sepal ovate-obtuse, dark purplish red with red streaks; lower<br />

sepals bright red to orange-red, half an inch long, linear,<br />

acuminate, connate towards <strong>the</strong> apex. Petals ovate-obtuse,<br />

deep red-purple, quite glabrous, as long as <strong>the</strong> upper sepal.<br />

Lip bright orange, tongue-shaped.<br />

This charming little species is distinct in its broad sepals<br />

and petals all blunt, and <strong>the</strong> latter without <strong>the</strong> hairs usually<br />

found in Cirrhohetala.<br />

On bare branches <strong>of</strong> trees on exposed rocky spots at<br />

Skeat's Camp, and also on <strong>the</strong> Padang on trees by <strong>the</strong> stream<br />

and in open woods on <strong>the</strong> side <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Teku. I am pleased to<br />

associate it with <strong>the</strong> name <strong>of</strong> W. W. Skeat, who first ascended<br />

<strong>the</strong> ridge as far as <strong>the</strong> spot named Skeat's Camp, where I first<br />

found this pretty plant.<br />

summit <strong>of</strong> Gunong Tahan.<br />

Distribution. Selangor Mountains, Bukit Hitam, and<br />

Klnang Terbang.<br />

194. Eria Tahanensis, n. sp.<br />

Stems erect, a foot tall, ^ inch through, leafy, somewhat<br />

dilate at <strong>the</strong> base. Leaves coriaceous, linear, acuminate, 4<br />

inches long, J inch wide; sheaths i inch long, slightly flattened.<br />

Scapes terminal, 2-3, slender, many-flowered, laxly racemose,<br />

8 inches long; rhachis white, woolly. Bracts lanceolateacuminate,<br />

caudate, persistent, jY) inch long. Ovary and<br />

pedicel slender, woolly, J inch long. Perianth ^ inch long.<br />

Upper sepal ovate-lanceolate, woolly outside; lower sepals<br />

much broader, triangular-ovate, woolly outside. Mentum<br />

short, broad, half as long as <strong>the</strong> sepal. Petals oblong, thin,<br />

glabrous, obtuse, as broad as <strong>the</strong> upper sepal. Lip three-lobed;<br />

side-lobes from <strong>the</strong> base long, oblong, obtuse, thin; disc
