" Iris very dark brown, bill greenish slate, base <strong>of</strong> upper<br />
mandible black, orbital skin and gape pale chrome, feet<br />
yellow, claws pale wax yellow. [H.C.R. & C.B.K.]<br />
This specimen agrees well with two o<strong>the</strong>rs in <strong>the</strong> Museums,<br />
one from <strong>the</strong> Krau River, Pahang, collected on 31st October,<br />
1913 and ano<strong>the</strong>r from Ginting Bidei, Selangor-Paliang<br />
border, 2,300 ft., obtained on September 30th 1914.<br />
Measurements <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> above bird taken in <strong>the</strong> flesh.<br />
Total length 281; wing 150; tail, 158; tarsus. 20; bill from<br />
gape, 30 mm.<br />
Wing <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Krau River Bird, 146 mm. Of <strong>the</strong> Ginting<br />
Bidei one, 147 mm.<br />
This species is extremely rare in <strong>the</strong> <strong>Malay</strong> Peninsula<br />
proper and <strong>the</strong> above tliree specimens are <strong>the</strong> only ones from<br />
our area <strong>of</strong> which we have any record, with <strong>the</strong> exception <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>the</strong> birds from Salanga or Junk Zeylon, recorded by Muller<br />
(Journ. fur. Orn. 1882, p. 405). It is probably commoner in<br />
Tenasserim.<br />
