Var. GLABRA. In this form <strong>the</strong> leaflets are lanceolate to<br />

ovate-lanceolate, acuminate at both ends, entire, cuneate at<br />

<strong>the</strong> base, smooth, shining and papery when dry; <strong>the</strong> petioles,<br />

petiolules and rhachis <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> inflorescence covered with short<br />

stiff hairs ; <strong>the</strong> flowers ra<strong>the</strong>r more scattered on <strong>the</strong> rhachis<br />

than usual ; <strong>the</strong> bracts short and <strong>the</strong> petals fringed with white<br />

hairs. I have seen no form exactly like it.<br />

I have examined <strong>the</strong> co-type <strong>of</strong> this species in <strong>the</strong><br />

Herbarium at Kew, a plant collected by Wray on Gunong<br />

Inas, in Perak. It is in young bud, and I have little doubt<br />

that <strong>the</strong> plant collected by Kloss on Menuang Casing is <strong>the</strong><br />

same in spite <strong>of</strong> some differences in <strong>the</strong> original description.<br />

King describes <strong>the</strong> calyx-tube as narrow and nearly glabrous;
