Do you let your holiday home,
or do you own commercial
property in the UK?
If so, did you know you could reclaim some of the purchase price
back from the taxman and reduce your future tax bills?
HM Revenue and Customs have allowed
Capital Allowances on property since
1878. In December 2008 the legislation
was redefined, and it is by using this
updated legislation that we could help
you reduce your tax bill or even claim
money back, by claiming your rightful
entitlement to tax allowances.
You’ll be wondering why you haven’t read
about this in the press. Unsurprisingly,
HMRC didn’t spend any money on
advertising this to ensure you made
your claim.
You’ll also be wondering why your
accountant hasn’t told you about it.
This is because it is a very specialised
area, spanning surveying and
accountancy, and the vast majority of
accountants do not carry out this work.
If you pay income tax on income from
any source, whether on a PAYE or selfassessment
basis, and want to reclaim
some or all of the tax you paid in 2008/9,
as well as reduce the tax you pay this
year, then we could help.
Call or email for more information and a
no obligation summary application form.
Here’s a quick summary of the basics:
➤ Hedge Tax Mitigation will send you the
reports for your existing accountant to
make the claim to HMRC.
➤ You could claim 20 - 25% of the
purchase price as a tax allowance. On
a £200k property that means you could
offset £40k against your income tax
bill! This could be against tax you have
paid already or against tax due in future
tax years.
➤ We will work with you to review the
tax you have paid or will need to pay,
and identify the correct properties to
claim against, so that you do not pay us
more than is necessary to achieve the
savings you need.
If you let your holiday home,
or own commercial property in
the UK, then there could be
a cheque with your name on
it waiting to be collected.
Act now to get your claim in
to HMRC by the tax deadline
of January 2011.
