TRAINING CAPTAIN
I started working for easyJet in November 1999, so exactly
11 years ago. I started my most challenging role six months
ago when I became an instructor, a training captain. I’m in
charge of selecting our brand new team of pilots. It makes
my work really varied. In a month I work for about 15 days
and I have a good mix of tasks: a day of selection, a few days
of training and a few days of fl ights.
Our new pilots are already well trained and fully qualifi ed
when they join, but we give them an extra two months of
training – a two-week course and then a month of infl ight
training. Mentoring them makes me remember my days of
joining the airline! I’m really proud when I look at our pilot
selection – we have an incredibly highly trained team.
One of the best things about my job is the stability. I don’t
need to worry about looking for a new job, and I’d like to stay
with easyJet for as long as I can. The company is performing
really well, so every night I can go home and I don’t have to
worry about a thing.
