1. Virgatites virgatus (von Buch), holotype after von Buch (1830, pi. viii, fig. 1).<br />

Black shales at Karashovo (Koroshovo) on the River Moskva, 2 leagues above<br />

Moscow. Type species of the genus Virgatites Pavlow, 1892, designated<br />

by R. Douville, 1910. (Objective synonym Euvirgatites Lewinski, 1923.)<br />

X2/3.<br />

2. Virgatites stschukinensis (Michalski) (lectotype Michalski's pi. vi, fig. 8, now<br />

designated), figured to show the virgatotome style of ribbing photographically,<br />

and also the suture. Moscow district. (Geol. Survey Mus., London.)<br />

3. Zaraiskites scythicus (Vischniakoff), lectotype now designated, after Vischniakoff<br />

(1882, pi. iii, fig. 1), Mniovniki, near Moscow. Genus Zaraiskites<br />

Semenow, 1898 (objective synonym Provirgatites Lewinski, 1923). Xo-56.<br />

4. Dorsoplanites dorsoplanus (Vischniakoff ). Ventral view of imperfect lectotype<br />

now designated, after Vischniakoff (188^, pi. 1, fig. 5), X2/3, and side view<br />

of a more complete specimen after Michalski (1890, pi. xi, fig. 2). Xo-58.<br />

The lectotype from Tatarovo. Type species of the genus Dorsoplanites<br />

Semenow, 1898, designated by Roman, 1938 (objective synonym Polytosphinctes<br />

Schindewolf, 1925).<br />
