REPORT PURPOSE
To seek the maintenance of Council‗s involvement in the industry procurement of
advertising services utilising the Western Australian Local Government Association‘s
(WALGA) Local Government Advertising Contract.
Background
In 2008 WALGA established an independent advertising arrangement for Local
Government separate from the State Government Common Use agreement which Council
has utilised.
WALGA is now seeking a three (3) year commitment from members to secure competitive
pricing structures.
Issues
Council has received alternative pricing utilising the State Government Contract for
advertising services.
At the initial point of procuring services the State Government contract does provide for
approximately 15% of savings on a dollar for dollar basis.
However direct comparatives on pricing do not factor in the Whole of Local Government
advertising that WALGA facilitates for the Local Government sector for promotional and
advocacy purposes or the rebate arrangements in place for advertising in the West
Australian Newspaper.
Procurement Process
The methodology for appointment that will be recommended is to utilise WALGA‘s
Purchasing Service.
