10.1.2 2010-2011 Community Sport and Recreation Facilities Fund Applications<br />

REPORT PURPOSE<br />
To consider two (2) applications to the State Government 2010 – 2011 Community Sports<br />
and Recreation Facilities Fund.<br />
Background<br />
The State Government through the Department <strong>of</strong> Sport and Recreation Community Sport<br />
and Recreation Facilities Fund (CSRFF) provide funding to community organisations and<br />
local governments to develop sport and recreation infrastructure whereby up to one third <strong>of</strong><br />
the project cost may be applied for.<br />
Recent changes to the CSRFF guidelines now allow for applications to request up to 50%<br />
<strong>of</strong> the project costs as a development bonus. The development bonus will be assessed<br />
against the following criteria:<br />
Location - Regional, Remote or Growth areas<br />
Co-location <strong>of</strong> sports and facilities<br />
Sustainability Initiatives - Water Saving, Energy reduction etc<br />
Increased Participation - New users, increased participation from existing users,<br />
special interest groups participation etc.<br />
As part <strong>of</strong> the application process, all applications must be endorsed and prioritised by the<br />
Local Government Authority prior to being forwarded to the Department <strong>of</strong> Sport and<br />
Recreation.<br />
Two applications have been prepared for the current round on funding, both from the <strong>Shire</strong><br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>Roebourne</strong>. No community organisations have submitted applications this round.<br />
1. <strong>Shire</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Roebourne</strong> – Redevelopment <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Roebourne</strong> Aquatic Centre.<br />
2. <strong>Shire</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Roebourne</strong> – Construction <strong>of</strong> two (2) x permanent diamond sport fields at<br />
Bulgarra Sporting Complex.<br />
Council is now required to assess each application against the CSRFF guidelines,<br />
determine its contribution, if any, to each project and forward a prioritised list to the<br />
Department <strong>of</strong> Sport and Recreation with comment for assessment.<br />
