Sunnyvale Swim Complex EAP 1. Lifeguard recognizes someone in need of immediate help (or alerted by a patron) 2. Lifeguard activates EAP by blowing whistle three times – 3whistles (evacuate pool) (2 staff covereage-1 1 person tends to the victim. They retrieve the First Aid Kit and AED, 1 person is responsible for all other issues) Control by-standers, standers, deal with parent/guardian, assis assisting guard-multiple multiple victims, Clear the rest of the facility. Staff in office at the time of whistle calls EMS personnel if necessary. ALWAYS use cordless phone where possible, so you can remain on line to dispatch and move around if necessary. 3. Staff member brings out the First Aid Kit in the lifeguard viewing office and the AED. 4. Lifeguard follows General Rescue Procedure for water or land. Water – survey scene and safely enter water -determine determine if victim is distressed, passive, active -perform perform appropriate rescue -move victim to safety -remove remove from water using backboard if unable to leave on their own -perform perform primary survey (CABC) -provide provide emergency care -call call 911 if no breathing, no pulse, anything determined that threatens the victims life (i.e. severe bleeding, spinal, burns, sudden illness, diabetic shock, cardiac arrest, heat heat, heat unconscious) -after after 911 call, large gate must be opened with F1 key, an and d CSC staff or volunteer remain in parking lot to flag down and direct EMS -perform perform secondary survey Land Emergencies – survey the scene and approach victim -provide provide care as necessary 5. All equipment used in rescue must be checked out and made ready for next use. All supplies must be replenished, and secondary backboard made available before re re-opening 10. Corrective action taken for any situation that may have contributed to the incident before facility re-opens. 11.
