RFP No. F0610-34 – Sunnyvale Swim Complex, FremontHigh School Page 10 c. Water Exercise classes. This program was tested in the summer of 2005, and started year ‘round in the summer of 2006. Classes are offered in the mornings at 10:15am M/W/F with additional offerings April – September. We will continue to develop new clients and reach out to organizations and groups within the community that might be interested in a fun fitness opportunity in the water for adults. We would hope to see additional interest in the exercise class. The lack of available lanes in the evenings and early mornings, due to other uses, prevent any other offerings than mornings or early afternoons. This would be a great program to expand at Washington Pool if ever given the opportunity. CSC offered 1560 lane hours of water fitness in 2012. Starting in August of 2013, CSC currently plans the following schedule: Mon/Wed/Fri 10:15-11:15 am (year ‘round) T/TH 10:15-11:15 am (April-September) Sat 11:00-12:00 (April-August) d. Adult Lessons. These are very popular lessons for adult beginners through advanced including specific stroke development for the adult interested in a more serious level of swimming. Classes are offered 7 days a week. *See youth lessons for lane requirements and actual lane hours. e. Open Swim. The summer program open to the public will be available Monday- Sunday from mid-June to mid-August. Our offerings are controlled in large part by the City/District agreement which prevents availability until the high school is officially out for summer (“mid-June”) and we must end this program offering as soon as after-school sports begin (“mid-August.”) i. CSC accommodates several area groups and organizations during open swim with a group rate for larger numbers of kids and we provide appropriate staffing to address all their safety concerns. ii. The new “Summer Shoulder Season” could begin as early as April and continue thru the early fall with open swim hours on the weekends. During this period, an open swim schedule will be created and published for the public. We would look forward to the City’s support in promoting this program within its recreation department communications and activity guides. These hours would typically include warmer months during the year when there is a moderate demand for open swim. CSC would work closely with the City to measure and determine the success of this new program. iii. In keeping with improved services for the community while limiting the disruption of existing programs, uses, and limitations due to District use, we would welcome the opportunity to improve the operational “shoulder season” hours of other more conducive recreational pools in Sunnyvale such as Washington Pool. The current agreement requires at least 1,750 annual hours of open swimming. CSC offered 2,834 lane hours of open swimming in 2012.Starting in August of 2013, CSC proposes the following schedule: Providing the opportunity to be the best you can be – Since 1987 www.calsportscenter.com
RFP No. F0610-34 – Sunnyvale Swim Complex, FremontHigh School Page 11 Summer: Mon-Fri 1:30-3:30 pm Sat/Sun 1:30-5:30 pm Summer Shoulder Season*: Sat/Sun 1:15-3:15 pm (minimum 4 lanes) *this would be scheduled from May 1 to mid-June and again mid-August until September 30. We would meet with the City staff following each season to measure actual use as well as surveys from users. f. Youth Lessons. CSC has a comprehensive program of developing skills and progressions that is second to none in the valley. Our focus on ‘learn to swim’ as well as more advanced skills development in a fun and safe environment works toward the many competitive swim opportunities available in the area. This has customers coming back year after year and most importantly referring their family and friends regularly to get their lessons from CSC. Many local programs have copied our program ratios since beginning these in 1991. i. Lessons are offered 7 days a week year ‘round in group, semi-private, and private offerings. Diversity in choices offers great flexibility. ii. We offer group lessons for local preschools in the mornings. iii. Pre-competitive swimming is a class based monthly program to prepare the more advanced swimmer toward team or high school competitive swimming. iv. A summer recreational program allows the community at large to participate in stroke development and team prep without the year ‘round obligation of a competitive team. v. A new ParentTot class will be offered in the early fall, and late spring in the mornings pending weather. vi. Recreational diving classes are offered on Saturdays during the spring and fall and on weekdays and Saturdays during the summer. Classes focus on the basic principles of springboard diving and prepare students for the Future Champions team. vii. California Sports Center would also continue to develop our relationship with Sensation Nation – a company specifically developed to assist special needs youth in the community. Sensation Nation provides 1:1 instruction for its students and are provided integrated safe support to their individual needs. California Sports Center is required to offer 7,000 lane hours of instructional lessons each year. California Sports Center offered 7,802 lane hours of instructional lessons for youth and adults in 2012. Various times, 7 days per week throughout the year are outlined in Attachment 4. g. Water polo. i. Youth programming. This would be a developmental program of skills for those under the age of 14. These students would eventually become high school program competitors. ii. A high school age program will be offered in their off-season to continue support to the local high school teams iii. Adult age water polo programming. This has been, and will continue to be a growing program for adults.
