RFP No. F0610-34 – Sunnyvale Swim Complex, FremontHigh School Page 2 INTRODUCTION The CaliforniaSportsCenter accepts the opportunity to submit our proposal to the City of Sunnyvale to continue our operations at the Sunnyvale Swim Complex at FremontHigh School. As the operator for the City since the pool opened in July of 2002, we are proud to have implemented multiple new programs and offered very diverse programming for all citizens of Sunnyvale to enjoy, and local companies to use, as a resource for fitness for their employees. We have also met the challenge of collaborating closely with the school district. We recognize the need for the City to review other proposals for consideration, but also believe that we are best suited to continue and further develop the operations at this pool with limited if any disruption other than that caused by improved capital expenditures or by the City or the District for other capital improvements or general maintenance. We intend to expand on our programs, while also continuing to reach a diverse population, and offer additional times, and new ideas to expand the possibilities and opportunities for aquatics programming for the entire community. Let this also be our notification of interest in the operation of additional pools for the City of Sunnyvale such as Washington Pool to continue to improve and expand services to all its residents. California Sports Center has successfully developed this collaboration formed between the Fremont Union High School District and the City. Our objectives would be to extend our relationship for the remaining 12 years of the current City / District agreement. Our goals: A. Enter into a long term business relationship to at least the end of the City/District agreement. B. Continue to work toward achieving outstanding approval ratings for a safe, effective, service-friendly atmosphere and we will continue to uphold California Sports Center’s mission, vision, and values. C. Continue to meet the priorities set forth in the RFP, but shall continue to offer expanded services in the following priority order: a. Adult Lap Swimming b. Masters team development, water exercise, senior swim rates, lessons specifically for adults, adult water polo, and other adult swimming programs. c. Family swims and ‘Open’ summer swim opportunities. d. Youth program development for lessons, deemed by our own past customers as the best in the valley; competitive swim readiness – both development toward team, and non-competitive higher level development for high school sports – particularly to support FremontHigh School sports and the District as a whole whenever possible. e. Safety training for the community at large, as well as regular coaches training and development – a key to CaliforniaSportsCenter’s many successes. f. Outside facility group use for the community development of competitive teams. D. Pay the City a fair, equitable and just level of compensation for the locker room facility use while meeting required programming outlined in the agreement. E. Maintain quality staff from the start of their positions, through on-going trainings, to their promotions or departures into new and better opportunities with a focus on hiring and training Sunnyvale residents whenever possible. RFP No. F0610-34 – Sunnyvale Swim Complex, FremontHigh School Page 3 CALIFORNIA SPORTS CENTER’S PROPOSAL In keeping with the RFP, the following proposal is outlined as requested under Section VII (page 12 of the RFP) in the order outlined and defined along with supporting CSC Attachments 1 through 9. A. PROPOSER QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE 1. The California Sports Center (CSC) is a California Corporation structured as a Subchapter S Corp. We have operated as such since 1991 when we incorporated. Before incorporating we were known as the CaliforniaGymnasticsCenter, owned and founded in 1987 by David Peterson. CSC currently operates eight (8) different sports training facilities in Sunnyvale, San Jose, Morgan Hill, and Santa Clara. Our focus has been on aquatics and gymnastics programming – both specialized activities, but we have also grown our dance programs at two locations within gymnastics programs. One of our locations is also a contract with the City of Sunnyvale to provide the gymnastics instruction for all recreational gymnastics classes at the City’s IndoorSportsCenter under the direction of the Nancy Grove and Gary Brown of the Library and Community Services Dept. In addition to operating the pool at FremontHigh School for the last 11 years, we have also operated seasonal pools in San Jose. 2. The principal owners of the corporation are David & Anne Peterson.
