EXERCISE
Playgrounds
Assignment: Photograph children
in action at a playground.
Goal: Try to get children actually
playing —hitting a ball, upside down
on a jungle-gym, using the swings or
slide, etc. Avoid straight portraits of
children who just happen to be at a
playground.
Tips: Stay around long enough so
the children get used to you. It is
perfectly acceptable to ask a child (or
several) to pose for you —just try to
make sure the photograph doesn't
look posed. Encourage the child to
move around in the general area
you've selected. Offer suggestions,
but let the child come up with some
ideas too.
