Brushes: You'll of course need
some brushes to paint on the opaque.
Any ordinary watercolor brushes will
work, but a relatively fine tip is
desirable.
• Procedures
/. Place the negative in the enlarger
and prepare to make an enlargement
measuring 2 '/>" X P/," (the
size of a 120 roll-film negative).
Be sure that your enlarger can accommodate
a negative of this
size. If not, then use whatever size
you can. If 35mm is your only
option, then simply contact print
the negative onto the lith film.
You may then contact print one
lith film onto another . . . producing
a final negative that is still
35mm.
If, on the other hand, your enlarger
can accommodate a negative
larger than the 120 size, then
use the largest size you can. Using

The high contrast helps by stripping
the image down to pure

you more room to work in and
produce a more detailed print.
2. Stop the enlarger lens down to
f/16.
3. Instead of photo paper, place a
piece of lith film on the easel.
To save on film, which is quite
expensive, cut each sheet into
about three pieces. Use these for
your test strips.
