between the years noted here, but the similarities between these key events described above are<br />

notable.<br />

In the following pages the transnational inspiration from the United States will be described while<br />

acknowledgning that a variant of investigative journalism existed in Denmark before the Woodward<br />

and Bernstein, and also noting that Danish undercover journalism has been inspired by the German<br />

journalist Günter Wallraff.<br />

<strong>The</strong> process of Americanization in the case of investigative journalism is depicted in Table 4 below<br />

and describes three key events.<br />

A model depicting some of the important intermediary and subsequent events in the appropriation<br />

of investigative journalism would include the description of American journalists‘ establishment of<br />

―Investigative reporters and editors Inc.,‖ as well as the Danish organization directly modeled on<br />

the American example. Such a model is illustrated in Table 5.<br />
