ANALYSIS <strong>OF</strong> THE DATA<br />
lowa hospital CEOs and their associates participated in this<br />
research by responding to surveys and biographical questions. Sixty-three<br />
of 1 16 CEOs (54%) completed the MLQ, RVS, PVRII, and a set of<br />
biographical questions. Two hundred ninety of their peers (such as<br />
customers or other CEOs), superiors (board members) and subordinates<br />
(employees or staff reporting to the CEO) completed the MLQ, referencing<br />
the leadership characteristics of their affiliated CEO. This represents an<br />
average of 4.7 associate respondents per CEO. Table 3 reflects the<br />
participation of the CEOs in this study relative to gender and hospital<br />
settings in the state of lowa.<br />
