There were also, of course, pockets of Yakha in other pancgvats not<br />

included in this list, since people calling themselves Yakha were widely<br />

distributed across the hills and, to a lesser and more historically<br />

recent extent, the plains of East Nepal. Looking across the region as a<br />

whole, however, the Yakha pockets all seemed to be located east of the<br />

Arun River, with the greatest concentrations in the two northernmost<br />

pancavats of Dhankuta district and the four southernmost pancdyats of<br />

Sankhuwasabha (see Map 3). We were told about a Yakha population in<br />

Yangre/Chaubise (Rajarani pancayat, a pancavat in the southern part of<br />

Dhankuta district) which appeared to be something of an anomaly, as does<br />

a group of 70 households in Angna pancdvat, Panchthar district (in
