Replacing the memory card<br />

To install the replacement memory card, complete the following steps:<br />

1. Insert the memory card into the memory-card connector. Press the memory card into<br />

the connector <strong>and</strong> the retention latch down onto the top of the memory card.<br />

2. Slide the blue release latch toward the front of the server, into the locked position.<br />

3. Install the top cover (see Replacing the top cover ).<br />

Removing a DIMM<br />

DIMMs must be installed in pairs of the same type <strong>and</strong> speed. To use the memorymirroring<br />

feature, all the DIMMs that are installed in the server must be of the same type<br />

<strong>and</strong> speed, <strong>and</strong> the operating system must support memory mirroring.<br />

To remove a DIMM, complete the following steps.<br />

1. Read the safety information in Section 1 <strong>and</strong> Installation guidelines.<br />

2. Turn off the server <strong>and</strong> peripheral devices, <strong>and</strong> disconnect the power cords <strong>and</strong> all<br />

external cables as necessary.<br />

3. Remove the top cover (see Removing the top cover ).<br />

4. Remove the memory card (see Removing a memory card ).<br />

5. Place the memory card on a flat, static-protective surface, with the DIMM<br />

connectors facing up.<br />

Attention<br />

Removing <strong>and</strong> replacing server components<br />

To avoid breaking the DIMM retaining clips or damaging the DIMM connectors, open<br />

<strong>and</strong> close the clips gently.<br />
