3. The THEORY OF MOTION, of the human carriage and movement<br />
which in recent research extends far beyond the mechanical and the<br />
purely physical. The theory of motion will become an essential branch<br />
of the theory in general. Professorial chairs for the theory of motion have<br />
already been established in America. Useful examinations are available<br />
in many languages about the theory of motion. The work of a professor<br />
at the German university of physical education at Leipzig, Dr. Kurt<br />
MEINEL'S BEWEGUNSGLEHRE (theory of motion), offers a survey of and<br />
insight into the international research in this field.<br />
4. The THEORY OF SYSTEMATICS, which orders the exercises ac<br />
cording to their educational purposes and effect. Systematics inquires<br />
into the relations of the exercises to the spiritual trends, to the special<br />
aims and principles of the work of a certain time. Systematics which<br />
takes into account the whole international scope, was published by the<br />
Viennese university lecturer Dr. Hans GROLL: «DIE SYSTEMATIKER<br />
DER LEIBESUNGEN (the school of physical education).<br />
5. The METHODOLOGY of physical education. It is occupied with<br />
the concrete problems of education, it develops the concrete principles<br />
for the practical organization of physical education. In the German<br />
speaking area DIDACTICS (the art of teaching) of physical education is<br />
also treated. There are useful contributions about questions and pro<br />
blems concerning methodology. Standard editions of methodology have<br />
not yet been published.<br />
The BIBLIOGRAPHY of physical education has had an immense<br />
development. This shall be the subject of another lecture.<br />
The endeavour to provide a technically acknowledged terminology<br />
of physical education may be observed with satisfaction. It is an urgent<br />
presupposition for scientific, professional discussion. As desired<br />
by the international professional world, the Bureau for Information<br />
and Documentation in the World Council of Physical Education and<br />
Sport will cooperate with the Austrian departments of physical education<br />
in conducting an International Assembly on Terminology in<br />
the beautiful situated village of Strobl of Woldgangsee from Oct. 14 to<br />
Oct. 19, 1963.<br />
It goes without saying that the theory of physical education will<br />
take into consideration medical and biological knowledge. The physical<br />
