Synchronous Generators BG 132 / BG 160 Chapter 9, Transport and storage 9 Transport and storage The generators are bolted onto a transport pallet and packed accordingly for protection against damages and penetrating humidity when leaving the factory. Single-bearing generators achieve IP54 protection only when they are mounted to the engine. The generators have to be transported and stored dry and protected against water. Transport and storage may only be performed in delivery state with the packaging and protective devices mounted. CAUTION On both sides of the generator, a lifting eye bolt is provided for attaching lifting equipment. Lifting equipment may only be attached to the generator using these lifting eye bolts. Only appropriate lifting equipment may be used. If no lifting eye bolts are provided at the generator ex works, these must be mounted later for lifting the generator.
