Chapter 8, Removal<br />

8 Removal<br />

To remove the generator, proceed according to the descriptions given in this<br />

chapter.<br />

8.1 Safety precautions<br />

DANGER<br />

Removing of the generator may only be performed by<br />

authorized <strong>and</strong> qualified personnel.<br />

Generator components may be very hot, not just during but also<br />

after operation. Burning hazard!<br />

For removing the generator make sure that the switched-off<br />

engine cannot be restarted accidentally (e.g. by removing the<br />

ignition key <strong>and</strong> keeping it safe). Mortal danger by electric<br />

shock, risk of personal injury!<br />

8.2 Removal of two-bearing generators (<strong>BG</strong><strong>132</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>BG</strong><strong>160</strong>)<br />

The removal of two-bearing generators has to be performed in accordance with<br />

the descriptions in chapter 4.<br />

8.3 Removal of single-bearing generators<br />

NOTE<br />

For the removal of single-bearing generators the following special<br />

tools are required:<br />

• Special tool of the engine manufacturer to hold the engine<br />

shaft.<br />

• For shaft fastening by grub-screw:<br />

Special hexagon nut for turning the generator shaft using a<br />

spanner as well as special sawing ring pliers for removing <strong>and</strong><br />

mounting the sawing ring which secures the fan impeller on the<br />

shaft.<br />

• For shaft fastening by tension bolt:<br />

Pushing rod <strong>and</strong> pushing screw.<br />

• Additionally for brush-type generators:<br />

Special wooden chock serving as transport locking for the rotor.<br />
