The Certificate in Adolescent Studies focuses on adolescent<br />

development, problem solving, and family relationships in<br />

contemporary America. Included are courses that center on the<br />

development of skills and techniques to work with adolescents and<br />

their families, and strengthen adolescent and family relationships.<br />

This certificate is designed for students who are preparing to work or<br />

those who are presently employed in professions that require<br />

interaction with adolescents and/or adolescent-related issues.<br />

Individuals who would be enhanced by the Certificate in Adolescent<br />

Studies include school personnel, organization leaders, law<br />

enforcement personnel, religious leaders, parks and recreational<br />

staff, case managers, health educators, outreach workers, and<br />

parents. This certificate may be expanded into an Associate in<br />

Applied Science (AAS) degree in Family Development. See program<br />

director for advisement.<br />

The Certificate of Completion (CCL) in Early Childhood Classroom<br />

Management focuses on key areas related to early childhood, which<br />

include: overall knowledge of child development and developmentally<br />

appropriate practice, guiding children’s behavior, and preparing the<br />

environment to meet children’s individual needs. This certificate is<br />

designed for understanding and managing early childhood classroom<br />

settings.<br />
