Students enrolled in the International Studies Certificate will have the<br />

opportunity to broaden their horizons and their understanding of our<br />

increasingly interdependent global society. The Certificate approaches<br />

broad cultural issues and includes a strong emphasis on world<br />

politics and religions. It also includes developing proficiency in crosscultural<br />

communications and the capacity to navigate world cultures.<br />

Proficiency in a modern language is also an integral part of the<br />

Certificate.<br />

Program Notes: Students must earn a grade of “C” or better in all<br />

courses required within the program. Study abroad credit may<br />

replace courses identified as electives with the approval of the<br />

Program Director or Department Chairperson.<br />

Music<br />

Academic Certificate — AC 6205<br />

44.5-45.5 Credits<br />

The Academic Certificate is intended for the student who would like<br />

to obtain acknowledgment for completion of music courses and is<br />

not designed to prepare students for employment. While the<br />

completion of the certificate does not lead to a particular degree, it<br />

does provide and enhance the development of musicianship for<br />

enjoyment and personal growth. This program provides the student<br />

with fundamental musical skills covering a variety of topics, including<br />

theory, performance, composition, and history. As students<br />

complete courses in the program, they will build a performance<br />

repertoire and/or portfolio of original compositions that may be used<br />

to seek admittance to a bachelor’s-level music program.<br />

Program Note: Students must earn a grade of "B" or better in all<br />

courses within the program.<br />

Admission Criteria: Prior approval of Music Department Director is<br />
